Cell phone usage has grown tremendously over the past ten years and
along with that comes the waves of accessories to accompany your shiny
new communication device. Everyone has a different reason for having
their cell phone but regardless of the reason, people will always want
to customize their device to fit their lifestyle.
One of the most popular customizing option is their cell phone’s ringtone. While every cell phone comes with its default set of ringtones, most people want show some form of creativity when it comes to an incoming call. Just about everything that makes a sound can be turned into a ringtone. This is why Los Angeles based Xingtone created their Xingtone Ringtone Maker software.
Let’s Make Ringtones
Using the Xingtone Ringtone Maker is very easy to install and configure. You just need to have the cell phone number you wish to send the ringtone to. That’s right, no USB cables or confusing cell phone management software. Just create the ringtone using Xingtone Ringtone Maker, click the Send button from the program’s interface and you will receive a text message from Xingtone telling you when you ringtone is ready for downloading. Just connect to the Xingtone server via your cell phone and begin the download of the ringtone to your cell phone. Once the download completes, it will immediately appear in your list of available ringtones. Just select it and wait for your next incoming call.
Now let’s take a look at some of the audio editing features of Xingtone Ringtone Maker. The program offers two settings to create your ringtone. One is easy mode where you basically just import your audio file and then select the portion of the song or clip you want to make into a ringtone and edit that specific portion out by clicking on the razor blade icon in the bottom right of the application window. Once you are satisfied with your selection, you can click the send button and you will receive a text message from Xingtone that your ringtone is ready for downloading.

The Advanced mode option provides you with a few audio-editing tools that you can apply to your audio clip. Some of the features you can see in the image above. After you select your audio clip, it will then appear in the timeline. There you will need to select the portion of the clip that you want to apply the effect to. As you can see in the image, Xingtone Ringtone Maker offers users the ability to undo/redo, zoom in and out of the timeline, normalize, record mode, apply fades as well as increase and decrease the clip’s volume. You are also given a playback and stop button along with the edit button to cut portions out and the send button when you’re ready to send your ringtone to your cell phone. You can even send ringtones to your friends and colleagues as long as you know their cell model and phone number.
The Final Word
Xingtone offers a Macintosh and Windows demo that you can use to create one ringtone for your cell phone. The program is fully functional for that single ringtone so you can can get a true feel for the program. The program’s editing features are pretty simple to understand and you should be able to create a ringtone in a very short time.
I wish the program had a way to export ringtones to the computer. Some cell phone users may not have multimedia access as a part of their service plan so downloading ringtones would be a little costly depending on the size of the ringtone and your service plan’s limitations. If Xingtone Ringtone Maker had the ability to export, then users would have the ability to copy them over to their cell phones via a USB cable. If you’re not going to be making hundreds of ringtones, then you should really enjoy using the internet delivery service. After I created my ringtone and sent it off, I received my confirmation text message within five minutes. I downloaded the file and immediately applied it as my ringtone. It was very quick and easy to accomplish on my Motorola V220 cell phone. Xingtone Ringtone Maker will help you replace those default tones and replace them with ones you actually want to listen to in a matter of minutes.
Since there are various cell phone providers and an even larger number of cell phones, you should check the system requirements closely to make sure that your specific phone model and carrier are supported.
