Making copies of your personal DVDs or trying to convert a video file
doesn’t have to be a difficult chore. With X-OOM’s
Movie Clone 3 Gold for Windows, you can accomplish all of those tasks
using the program’s simple point and click interface.
Now I have a number of video files and my brother’s recent wedding DVD handy and I was curious to see if it could convert those video files to a DVD and my brother’s DVD to a video file.
Convert Your Favorite Videos
Now before you start thinking about backing up your store bought DVDs with Movie Clone, there is a message at the beginning of the Getting Started section that mentions the legality of making duplicates of copyrighted material. X-OOM Movie Clone 3 Gold does not break the copyright protection found on many store bought DVDs.
When you launch the program, you are presented with a window that contains four options: Copying a DVD to DVD/CD, Copying DVD files to hard disk, Copy files from hard disk to DVD/CD and Convert a file to a different format. The interface is very simple to understand and the entire process is done through a series of selections in the main window. Looking at the DVD conversion window (see below), you will see that you only have to select the source drive (which was my computer’s DVD player), target location (if you want to change it), the disk format and the film’s options. A few clicks and you’re ready to convert your DVD video content to your specified output.
The first test I ran was on my brother’s wedding DVD since there was no encryption and video quality was pretty good. I was curious what the outputted video would look like in DivX format.
After making a few selections in the main window, I pressed the Start button to begin the process. Now you should be aware that there’s a delay that occurs after you press the Start button so you should be patient. If the process doesn’t begin in five minutes, then you should check on the program’s status in the Task Manager.
I was surprised to discover that the outputted video was in very good quality. I did not find any major flaws in the converted video and it looked and sounded just as good as the DVD.
The Final Word
I found X-OOM Movie Clone 3 Gold to be an excellent video converting program. The suggested retail price is comparable to other conversion programs and it does support some of the more popular video formats for the consumer market. I really enjoyed the fact that Movie Clone 3 Gold can do more that just make complete copies of DVDs but it can also create DVDs from other movie file types (DivX, AVI, XviD and Windows Media Video), export DVD video into other formats as well as support portable devices such as PDAs and mobile phones (Movie Clone 3 Gold does not export into Sony PSP compatible video format). The program even supports DVD dual layer, 5.1 surround sound and Dolby Digital. I was even surprised to find that Movie Clone 3 Gold has compression technology built-in to shrink an oversized DVD (i.e. 9 gigabytes in size) down to a single DVD recordable size of 4.7 gigabytes.
The program remained stable and converted the DVD and video files into the specified formats. The quality of my brother’s wedding video looked and sounded exactly the same even as a high compression DivX file. Heck, I could have made his wedding video into a format that he could put on his mobile device.
The only issue I discovered is that X-OOM Movie Clone 3 Gold does use a tremendous amount of CPU power to function. You can continue to use your system while Movie Clone 3 Gold is running in the background but you will notice your system taking a little more time to respond. I would strongly suggest that you convert video files when you don’t need to use your computer for any other work. Let the program utilize as much of your system’s processor power by closing all other applications. I would have also liked to have seen an option for video files where you could have specified the portion of the video that you wanted to convert as well as batch processing when trying to convert your video files.
Overall, X-OOM Movie Clone 3 Gold is a great product with support for the most popular video formats. The program is competitively priced and can deliver the video quality that you’re looking for. You can click HERE to purchase X-OOM Movie Clone 3 Gold for your PC.
