The Con PSP Review
Page 2

Well, you’ve now reached the final stage, which is the fight itself. Be aware that as you ascend up the rankings you will have to get into fights called “boss team” battles. This is a fight to the finish, elimination style fight where the last man standing wins.

Where The Con is different from most fighting games is that you are in it for the money. Where other fighting games strictly concentrate on the mauling of your opponent which you can do in The Con’s quick play mode, this game also offers the story mode where you can plan and strategize how you can pull off the ultimate con.

The Con PSP Review

If you enjoy some of the classic hand-to-hand fighting games, then you will probably enjoy The Con. There’s a lot to customize in the game and you will have fun creating your idea of the perfect fighter. Whether you create someone that will simply beat the pulp out of your opponent or customize a more balanced, tactical type fighter, you will find that you will need to master the art of fighting if you’re going to win. Executing the same maneuver will only end your matches in shorter amounts of time. You need to use every available move and attack to win consistently.

Whether you choose to play in quick play mode or story mode, I guarantee that you will be in for a tough fight. You will find out in quick play mode that the computer opponent will become smarter and tougher to defeat after the second fighter so be prepared to get your can kicked all over the place. The story mode is where this game shines though. You can prepare for the fight, set bets (even to lose the match) and even create custom characters and fight combos. The amount of customization is one of the best elements of The Con.

My only issue with The Con is that the loading time for each match is a little long. Maybe it has something to do with all of the customization settings that need to be loaded but other than that, I found The Con to be an exciting fighting game with a different twist. If you enjoy some of the classic fighting games from the 1990s, then you’re really going to enjoy The Con.

You can pick up The Con for the Sony PSP.
