Sly 3: Honor Among Thieves PS2 Review
Page 2

Sly 3 offers a number of cool game modes in multiplayer action. You have a choice of Cops & Robbers, Co-op hack, Biplanes and Pirate Battle. In Cops & Robbers, you can play as either Sly or Carmelita. If you choose Sly, you will need to pick up loot along the map and bring them to drop off points. As Carmelita, it is your job to try and stop Sly but it’s the player who reaches five points wins. Co-op hack is a fight to the finish line battle where you need to break into and survive multiples of enemies. To win, you need to get to the get to the exit before your opponent. In Biplanes, again you are given the option of playing as Sly or Carmelita in a one on one fight across the skies. The first one to reach ten kills wins. The Pirate Battle (my favorite of the four) is where you get to play as either Sly or Bentley and navigate your ship into battle. You have the ability to fire cannons and repair your ship while you take aim at your opponent’s ship. The first person to sink their opponent three times wins the game. The fun part is running around trying to repair your ship before it sinks. You can’t spend too much time on those repairs because you’re under a constant barrage of cannon fire. You must try this one out.

Sly 3’s animated game design is a welcomed sight after playing plenty of war, strategy and first person shooter games lately. Although the game does depict cartoon violence, the game is still rated E for everyone.

If you enjoyed the first two Sly installments, then you’re going to really enjoy Sly 3. The action on Sly 3 is far better than the previous efforts. Whether its through the ground or in the air, there is plenty of action in Sly 3 Honor Among Thieves. The game design for Sly 3 is amazingly great. I was very surprised not only by the characters movements but the general design of the environments. There is some very meticulous artwork done in Sly 3.

The 3-D action that will be included along in every mission can be skipped if you want but you know you want to play in that 3-D environment. How can you not be a little curious about playing Sly 3 in full 3-D? But to fully enjoy the 3-D effects, you will need to assemble the glasses that can be found in the manual.

I enjoyed Sly 3 a lot and it’s a game that fans of the previous installments will probably enjoy too. The single player game mode is pretty good but I found the extras in the game to be even more enjoyable.

Overall, I really like the game’s action and especially the graphics. The developer does a great job managing all of the characters and their personalities as well as creating a solid play environment. The one area of the game I didn’t enjoy was the flying. I just found the flight control to be a little too sensitive for my taste. But other than that, the game does sport some fun features. I found safe cracking and pickpocketing to be the best skills to utilize and the Pirate Battle as the best of the multiplayer modes. The game manual even includes a pair of 3D glasses that you can easily assemble. Sly 3 Honor Among Thieves is a great, animated action game that is suitable for all ages. The game earns a 4.5 stars out of 5.
