MediEvil Resurrection PSP Review Following the legend of Sir Daniel Fortesque from the original series on the PlayStation console, MediEvil Resurrection is a wonderful, story-driven tale of the man, who now comes back from the dead, to fight the evil Zarok. If you played the original series back on the PlayStation, then you should be familiar with the storyline and the characters. For those who are getting their first taste of the MediEvil franchise, you’re going to be in for a treat.

You play the game as a resurrected Sir Daniel Fortesque as you battle the evil sorcerer Zarok across 30 levels as he tries to conquer the land of Gallowmere. Zarok’s plan was to raise the dead to assist in his effort but during his attempt, he also resurrected Sir Daniel. Now given a second chance to fight for his honor, Sir Daniel must defeat Zarok to save Gallowmere and be the hero that everyone portrays him to be. The MediEvil franchise was extremely successful on the PlayStation but can it continue that success on the PlayStation Portable? Here’s a closer look at MediEvil Resurrection for the PSP.

Sir Daniel to the Rescue
MediEvil Resurrection offers a variety of options and features. After viewing the cinematic introduction (although you can skip it, you should watch it anyway because it is pretty cool), you come to the main menu where you’re given the options of new game, load game, multiplayer, controls, sound and mini games. You can change the controls of the game and the audio settings if you desire. You should definitely take a look at the mini games offered. There are 70 mini games available that you can either play alone or against an online opponent. The multiplayer capabilities are available through the PSP’s Ad Hoc wi-fi mode.

MediEvil Resurrection PSP Review You start the game from Sir Dan’s Crypt where you get your first weapon, get an introduction to the elements of the game, practice some of your moves such as the daring dash, jumping, slow and special attacks. After you had your fun in Dan’s Crypt, it will be time to move on to your first map The Graveyard.

MediEvil Resurrection for PSPThe levels in MediEvil Resurrection can sometimes make you feel like you’re running around in circles. I had hoped that there was some type of overhead map to display where you were on the map since it would’ve saved me time. Levels like Cemetery Hill, Hilltop Mausoleum and the Scarecrow Fields were pretty tough to figure out at first but this is what makes it a great game. It’s not difficult enough where you will never get it but you have to keep a keen eye on your surroundings.

As for the fighting melees, I found that sometimes it was easier to attract the attention of the zombies and let them come towards me instead of me having to chase them around to eliminate them. The end-of-level enemies in the game are very difficult to wipe out and you will need to utilize the appropriate weapon to destroy them. This is where you will need to keep moving and use accurate aiming to defeat the extra large enemies. The first end of level enemy you face is in the Hilltop Mausoleum and your only way to defeat it is to constantly shoot it with the throwing daggers you will find in the area. Pay attention to the in-game tips as they will provide valuable information along the way.
