Hard Rock Casino for the Sony PlayStation Portable is another game
looking to cash in on the card-playing craze. Despite the game’s title,
Hard Rock Casino is geared toward a younger crowd and not for high
rollers looking for a professional tournament style gaming experience. The
game offers single player action against computer opponents but you can
also choose to play online. You can choose from 20 different games.
Now just in case you are not a card shark and need some tips on how to play some of these games, there is a tutorial section that can help you get up to speed on the latest table games, variations of poker and how to operate a sportsbook. Some of the table games covered include blackjack, casino war, let it ride, baccarat, big raise hold ‘em, pai gow and fortune pai gow, craps and roulette. Some of the poker games covered include limit Texas hold ‘em, no limit Texas hold ‘em, Omaha hold ‘em, 7 and 5 card stud.
Hard Rock Casino has some good and bad points. Some of good points are that the game presents very good casino action and a very large variety of games to choose from. This keeps the action fresh because you can play freely by choosing the game you want or you can choose to play in Adventure Mode where you create your character and take him through the casino to achieve a series of goals and challenges to advance through the adventure.
All of the card game strategies are available in each game type to bring a true sense of card gaming experience. If you’re not in a card-playing mood, you can choose the slot machine area of the casino (you have to try the Hard Rock slot machine and bet the maximum per line) or you can try your hand in one of the tournaments available such as Go Go Fish, Area 51, Poker 4x4 and the Money Train
While I have never been much of a casino player in real-life, I found myself really enjoying the fortune pai gow game. It took a little while to learn the game but the tutorial really helped out a lot. Even if you are not an aspiring gambler, the tutorials in Hard Rock Casino are a huge help in getting you up to speed on the action.
Hard Rock Casino for the Sony PlayStation Portable is a good, solid game that offers a nice variety of casino games for the casual player. The cartoon character players make the game teen-friendly (HRC is rated T for teens). While the table chatter can be a little annoying, thankfully you can lower the volume of the chatter or turn it off completely. The graphics are crisp and you should have no problem viewing the gaming environment on the PSP’s small screen.

Overall, this is a good, low-cost game that can satisfy your casino urge without the smoke and noise. Hard Rock Casino for the Sony PlayStation Portable earns 3.75 stars out of 5. Good recommendation.
