Tritton AX360 Headphones Review Tritton Technologies AX360 gaming headphones is the latest in a long line of audio devices promising to deliver a better gaming experience. Most gaming hardware fail to meet the high expectations that gamers demand but I was still curious to see if the AX360 headphones could deliver on my expectation. This is what I discovered about the Tritton Technologies' AX360 gaming headphones.

I tested the AX360 using my Windows PC, Sony PlayStation 2 and Apple Macintosh. I do gaming on all three so I was really anxious if it could really provide the same quality across the board. I discovered on the packaging that the headphones are not only compatible with all of the major gaming platforms but it also works with consumer DVD players too. Being multi-purpose and multi-platform is starting to make these headphones even more appealing to me.

After I unpacked the AX360 headphones, black felt pouch, external audio controller (the little rectangular box), removable microphone, mic extension cable, digital fiber optic cable, coaxial audio cable, G9 adapter, power adapter, I began assembling the accessories. This sounds like a lot of items but putting them all together takes less than five minutes (and that's without reading the manual).

I tried the AX360 with my favorite PC game (Star Wars Battlefront II) and Mac game (Call of Duty). On my Windows PC, I use some very old Labtec speakers and I use Apple's built-in speaker system on my Mac. Now I have never played games with any type of actual audio quality. I always felt that as long as I can hear something, I wouldn't really care. Well now I had a reason to care and I was anxious to hear what I was missing out on.

Tritton AX360 Headphones Review After plugging the G9 connector to my PC, I started Star Wars Battlefront II and immediately changed my audio output to 5.1 audio. I then went online and joined into a multiplayer game. Nothing brings out the best audio than first person shooter multiplayer games. From the very first explosion and the laser fire crisscrossing my screen, you could distinctly make out which direction the shots were being fired. This was a very strange experience at first but wildly exciting. It was like playing the game for the first time since the sounds were amplified to a new level.

It wasn't just the audio itself but the quality of the sounds that was nothing like I had ever heard before in a game. I never knew a game's audio could be this sophisticated.

Just like previous Tritton headphones, the AX360 comes with an inline audio controller. From there, you can set the volume for the front, center and rear speakers in the headset. There is also one dial that controls the vibration as well. The removable microphone offers gamers a chance to speak with others online. This is good news for Xbox Live users and PC gamers who use technology like TeamSpeak to communicate.

The AX360 Audio Controller has a specific duty and it may not seem obvious by the information in the manual. Not knowing much about the device's features, I set about trying different combinations of the controls. I discovered that the Dynamic Range Control was designed to provide a higher audio frequency like you would find in racing and action games. By trying different settings, I found that the Time Delay is to create a more realistic sound as it travels through the AX360. For example, let's sey you see a shot go from left to right, well that sound would also be simulated through the headphones. For a person who enjoys first person shooter games, this technology alone makes these headphones worth the purchase price.

Even though the AX360 comes with a very long cord so you can use the headphones from across the room, it would be great if Tritton could develop a wireless version of the AX360. I felt that the headphones were a little heavy but I guess that would have to be expected considering the amount of technology that is required to create the output that the AX360 manages. Tritton does a good job in the design and comfort.

Tritton AX360 Headphones Review Overall, the Tritton Technologies' AX360 headphones deliver excellent audio quality for gaming or for general use. After playing Star Wars Battlefront II with these headphones, I know that I will never go back to playing games with my desktop speakers. The quality is just too good to turn down. Playing your favorite first person shooters or racing games will be a totally new experience. The AX360 will surround you with explosions, tires screeching and battle situations that will have you jumping out of your seat.

You can use these headphones for listening to your favorite music or for a variety of other reasons. These headphones work exceptionally well in any environment.

But to get the true experience out of your favorite video games, you should consider giving the Tritton Technologies AX360 gaming headphones a try. They are compatible with all major platforms such as the Mac, PC, Sony PlayStation 2 and the Xbox 360. The AX360 is also Xbox Live compatible. PC gamers can use TeamSpeak technology (http://www.goteamspeak.com) to speak to other online gamers.

If you're a hardcore gamer looking for the absolute best pair of headphones, you can't go wrong with the Tritton AX360 gaming headphones.

The Tritton Technologies AX360 gaming headphones earns a 4.6 out of 5 star recommendation.
