OtterBox for iPod nano Review OtterBox case for the second-generation iPod nano has the appearance of being a very tough protector for your iPod nano. I’m always a little skeptical when it comes to all of these iPod accessories because there to be so many of them available. Now I have never used an OtterBox product before but I had read some good things about their previous offerings. After I plunked down money for a second-generation iPod nano, I picked up the OtterBox case to go along with it.

I noticed on the packaging that the OtterBox case not only offers protection from drops, nicks and scratches but it is also waterproof up to one meter (3 feet). Now before you attempt to use it in the water with your iPod nano inside, try submerging it in water first to make sure that you understand how to seal the case properly.

Once you have figured that out, it is time to put it to use. To install the iPod nano, simply pull up on the latch at the top of the device. You may have to exert a little force but once you have unlocked the latch, the case will open up like a clamshell. You will notice a power plug at the base of the case, which is where you will plug in your iPod nano.

While you have the case open, this would be a good time to install the lanyard. Just position the t-shaped end of the cord near the back of the case. You will notice a cutout where you can slide the t-shaped end into then push it upward to lock it into place. Now do the same for the other end of the lanyard.

OtterBox for iPod nano Review Once your iPod nano is seated and the lanyard is installed, you can close the case. When you are closing the case, make sure the gray latch at the top snaps into place. You should hear a click noise when it locks together. The clear, hard outer shell is about a quarter inch thick, which provides very good protection from drops and other physical nicks from daily use. The click wheel is the only part of the case where the surface is not as thick as the case. This area is protected by a soft plastic layer so you can still access your iPod nano’s functions. If you don’t want to use the clip on the back of the case, you can simply lift up on the clip and remove it from the case.

I used the case during my workout at the gym and it survived just fine. Even with the sweat buildup and bumping it a couple of times on the equipment, the iPod nano didn’t skip a beat. I was so happy to see it survive and look and play the same way as it did the day I bought it.

Overall, the OtterBox case protector for the second-generation iPod nano is an excellent product. The hard shell case, waterproof ability, removable lanyard and clip on the back provide a great solution towards protecting your iPod nano. The OtterBox case for second-generation iPod nanos earns 5 out of 5 stars. Highly recommended.
