 Marware Sidewinder for the iPod nano serves as a hard shell protector
for your Apple iPod nano. I had previously reviewed the Marware
Sidewinder for the 30 and 60GB iPods and I needed a protector case for
my iPod nano. I like the Marware cases because they are form-fitted to
the various iPods.
The case is similar to the larger iPod case in that it has an opening at the top, a slide-out cord wrap, clear plastic cover for the screen, a cut-out for the click wheel and a door at the bottom to protect the device’s connectors.
There are only two individual parts that you need to be concerned with aside from the case itself. The spring clip attaches to the back of the case and provides a way to attach your iPod nano to your waistband or other device.
The slide-out cord wrap provides a great way to carry your portable headphones with you. Just wrap them around the slide-out board when not in use and push the slide-out into the back of the case when you’re using the headphones. The cutout for the click wheel ensures a clear path to the iPod’s controls.
The only problem I have with the case is the opening in the top of the case. I would have liked to see the same rotating door at the bottom of the case also placed at the top as well. It’s not that there is any chance of the nano falling out of the case because it does fit snug inside but it would just be a little more assuring to have there.
 The case is about a quarter-inch thick which should provide more than enough protection from daily drops and dings. This is not to say that you should use your iPod nano inside of the case as a hockey puck. You should always side with extreme caution when you own any electronic devices.
Overall, the Marware Sidewinder for the Apple iPod nano is a wonderful protector for your iPod nano. It is inexpensive necessity compared to having to replace your iPod nano. I would strongly suggest picking up one of these hard shell cases to ensure that your nano survives your daily routine. The case comes in black and white to fit your nano’s style.
