Intec Compact Game Sound System Review Intec Compact Game Sound System is a device that connects to your slim PS2 and provides your console with its own set of speakers. When you combine this with Intec’s Compact Gamer Screen, you have a complete portable PlayStation console. For now, let’s take a look at the Compact Game Sound System.

Crank Up Your PS2 Audio
To install the Compact Game Sound System, you just have to connect the device to the back of your PS2. You will find A/V input and output ports in the back of the sound system. You just place your console on the area between the speakers and connect the power adapter in the back. Connect the A/V cable to the multi-out port on the PS2. Then connect the other end to the A/V multi-in port on the sound system. Connect one end of the PS2 A/V cable to the A/V multi-out jack on the sound system. Then connect the other end to your TV input jack. In less than 5 minutes, you will be connected and ready to go.

Once you’re done using the sound system, you can just fold them down. If that sounds easy, that’s because it is. You will notice that once the sound system is folded down, it will be inline with the rest of the PS2. Even if you’re using the Intec Compact Gamer Screen, there will still be nothing in hindering your ability to keep the slim PS2 compact and easy to carry. You can tell that Intec spent a lot of time figuring out the design aspect because the device fits as if it was always a part of the system.

Now that the sound system is connected to the console, you can adjust the system’s volume with two buttons on the front of the device. There’s also a power button in case you don’t want to utilize the system.

After trying a few games, I was surprised to hear the quality of the Intec Compact Game Sound System. It was crisp, clear and noticeably better than the quality I was getting from my television alone. When you consider this device’s low price tag, this was a very welcomed add on to my PS2.

The Final Word
The Intec PS2 Compact Game Sound System is a very nice addition to your slim PlayStation 2. I think it may be a little too late since the PS3 is only a few months away but the quality of the audio is pretty good. The ease of installation was also a nice surprise. If you combine this sound system with Intec’s Compact Gamer Screen, then you will have a great portable PS2 solution. Both devices fit nicely around your slim PS2 and they don’t weigh a lot.

I found that while the speakers fold down when not in use, there’s nothing holding it in place. I found this to be a bit of a nuisance because the speakers would fold outward if the device was not stowed properly. There should have been some type of locking mechanism to prevent the speakers from being able fall open to prevent any chance of damage to the device. Other than this minor issue, the sound system is very easy to install and operate. Now this isn’t going to replace your home theater system but it will provide you with some good quality audio for your PlayStation 2 games and DVD movies.

If you’re going to be using that slim PlayStation 2 for the foreseeable future, then you’re going to want the Intec Compact Game Sound System.
