H2OAudio 2nd Gen iPod Case Review H2OAudio released a new iPod case for the second generation Apple iPod nano. Now H2OAudio specializes in rugged protective cases for a variety of consumer electronic devices. I enjoyed their waterproof headphones when I reviewed the product a while back. I was very excited to try their latest release, which is a new hard shell case for the latest iPod nanos. Here is what I discovered about H2OAudio’s latest product.

For the Active Lifestyle
The package contained only two pieces. One was the iPod case and the second was elastic armband. To install your 2nd generation iPod nano into the case, look to the top of the case. There you will find a toggle switch with lock and unlock pictures labeled on the case. Just move and hold the switch into the unlock position and pull up on the latch holding the case together. Once you have unhooked the latch, you can let go of the toggle switch and pull the case open.

The clear, hard plastic shell is about a half an inch thick yet the case is very light. Once you have the case open you will see a connector near the inside bottom of the case where you will plug your iPod nano into. Your iPod nano should slide right into place with the molded case fitting snug against the device. There are no other openings on the case except the one where you plug your headphones in. Now that your iPod nano is installed, just close the case and make sure the latch at the top of the case snaps shut. You will hear it snap into place, if you do not hear it then try opening and closing the case again to make sure.

The case is a little difficult to open and does require the use of careful force to gently open it. The toggle switch is very small and looks to be very easy to damage. Be very careful in how you open and close the case, you may damage the toggle switch if you apply too much force or if it isn’t aligned correctly.

H2OAudio 2nd Gen iPod Case Review Now that the iPod nano is inside, you can slide it into the armband. Now the armband is very soft and you can wear it comfortably whether it’s for running, exercise or any other activity. The case fits into the armband with a cutout for the click-wheel. Another great feature is that there are control buttons on the case. One to access the menu, another for playback and pause and the last two for skipping back or jumping forward through your songs. The gray wheel and button at the center give you even more control of your iPod nano. The gray wheel can be rotated similar to the nano’s as well.

The Final Word
Overall, the H2OAudio case for the 2nd generation iPod nano is a solid product. It provides excellent protection and easy access to your iPod nano’s content. The armband is another excellent addition to the case as it makes this case ready for use right out of the box. The only issues I discovered was that the case didn’t fit directly over the armband cutout for the click-wheel. It appeared as if the cutout should have been made a few millimeters lower.

The H2OAudio case for 2nd generation iPod nanos earns 4.5 stars out of 5. Highly recommended
