You need to remember that the contents of the package is to make the Buttkicker Gamer compatible for PC and console gaming.
Ready to Get Your Butt Kicked?
Now getting the Guitammer Buttkicker installed takes a little bit of time and effort. It’s not extremely difficult but you will have to spend a little time making sure you have plugged everything in properly. There’s even a warning in the Quick Start Guide that tells you not to power on the Gamer Amplifier until you have completed the connections.
You will want to use a standard office desk chair for the installation. First thing you do is connect the Buttkicker Gamer to the stem of your chair. The device is a little heavy and you will have to connect the 13.5 ft cable from the Buttkicker Gamer to the amplifier so you need to make sure you position the Buttkicker Gamer on the same side as your system (either PC or console) to utilize as much of the cable length as possible. Once you have found the proper position, you can now tighten the Easy Clamp mechanism around the stem of the chair. Once you have that secured, you are now ready to work the other end. The Buttkicker Gamer comes with two standing feet where you can mount the amplifier on its side.
After getting everything hooked up, plugged in and powered on, I found that the Buttkicker Gamer packs quite a punch. I had the volume on the Buttkicker Gamer turned up more than halfway up the dial when I launched LucasArts’ Star Wars Battlefront on my computer. As I entered a multiplayer game, the first explosion rattled my chair and I quickly turned the volume down. I was very surprised by the amount of power projected from the Buttkicker Gamer. The sensation you feel from the Buttkicker Gamer while you’re playing action games on your computer or console will surprise you.
Guitammer points out a number of issues that you will probably encounter in the product’s FAQ. The first item they address is the chair’s components rattling along with the Buttkicker Gamer. I discovered that I was having this problem with the chair’s height adjustment lever underneath the seat. I can see this being an issue with the Buttkicker Gamer attached to the stem of the chair. They say that you can attach something like a beanbag to the lever to weigh it down and prevent it from shaking. After finding something, the lever never made any noise since regardless of the Buttkicker’s setting or volume.
The Final Word
I found Guitammer’s Buttkicker Gamer to have be an incredibly fun addition to my gaming experience. Whether you use it on your computer system or with your game console, While the device does enhance your game playing fun by making it feel more realistic, I found that the device to be even more useful as a musical entertainment product.
Playing Van Halen’s classic rock song “Panama,” I found that the Buttkicker Gamer complimented the song very well with its heavy drum beat and bass lines coming through the bottom of my chair. I could actually feel the drum beats through my chair and it actually made the song “come alive.” Then I let my entire iTunes music library play through with the Buttkicker Gamer and I found it to be an incredibly pleasant addition to my music collection. Sure you can have a nice stereo system in your house or a top of the line music card in your computer but this experience with the Buttkicker was simply amazing. Listening to music on your computer system using the Buttkicker gamer will never feel the same.
Although the wire that connects the Buttkicker Gamer to my computer system got in my way a couple of times when I was leaving my chair, I think once you get used to it being there that it should no longer pose a problem. The connections to the Sony PlayStation 2 and to my desktop computer were a little confusing at first (just like with everything new) but I eventually go it set up properly. To all those gamers out there who are used to just learning on the fly, this isn’t the place to try it. I strongly recommend reading through the instructions and the FAQ to make absolutely sure that your Buttkicker Gamer is not just connected but connected properly on all ends.
If you live in an upstairs apartment, your neighbors below may have issues with your Buttkicker Gamer but this device is worth the trouble. If you like to play music or video games and want to boost your entertainment experience, then you’re going to need a Guitammer Buttkicker Gamer.
A 5 star buttkicking recommendation!
