If you have a mobile device (and you probably do), you can now
personalize it with a shiny, new skin by Cellfan. From their website at
cellfan.com, you can choose from an always expanding list of skins for
your mobile device. I picked up a couple of these skins for my Apple
iPod and Motorola V220 cell phone. Here’s what I discovered about the
Cellfan skins.
When you’re a technology fan like I am, you just love playing with the latest devices such as iPods, PlayStation Portables, laptops and even your cell phones. Technology surrounds us but there’s always that feeling of personalization that accompanies the ownership of a new tech toy.
Yo! Gimme Some Skin!
Now the first thing you should know is these skins are not like stickers that you would get out of your local gumball machine. These are vinyl skins that have a special adhesive backing that will stick to your device and act as a second skin.
Cellfan spent a tremendous amount of time and effort ensuring that each and every skin is form fitting to each specific device. For example, my Motorola V220 cell phone has a camera built-in on the front side and the Motorola logo and a speaker opening on the backside. The skin has openings in it to fit around these items thus leaving a sleek, personalized appearance without obstructing your device’s features.
I found that the Cellfan skins do work wonderfully adhering to the surface of your device. You can see that they spent a lot of time designing the skins based on each individual product’s features. The Star Wars Yoda skin I used for my Motorola V220 cell phone had all of the appropriate openings for the camera lens, time display, logo on the back the phone’s speaker on the back. After the skin was applied, the appearance looked so natural that some people wanted to know where I got my Yoda phone. So I peeled back the skin and showed them how I got my Yoda phone. They were surprised and I pointed them to the Cellfan.com website.
Cellfan.com Vinyl SkinsThe only issue I had with the Cellfan skins is that you have to be very gentle with the more defined, smaller skins such as the one that fit around my cell phone’s time display screen. The area I’m trying to apply the skin is very small and narrow. I found that if you try and set one end of the skin on the device, you can work your way from corner to corner after that to ensure a decent placement. You may have to reapply the skin a few times before you can get it set in place. Handle the skin using the tips of your fingers and try not to pinch the skin in any way to ensure that it applies smoothly.
Once you do have the skin in place, you just need to smooth out the edges and any bubbles that may have gotten caught up beneath the skin. After smoothing it out, the skin does add a very nice artistic appearance to your device. Even if you wanted to remove it (but why would you, right?), it doesn’t leave any residue behind.
There are plenty of skins currently available with even more on the way so if you’re looking to spruce up those drab looking electronic devices, then you should definitely take a look at Cellfan’s vinyl skins.
