With people trying to keep up with their busy schedules, sometimes you don't have the time to look for a CD-R and burn the data you need. You want a quick and easy way to transport those few family photos and videos or that presentation for work. This is when you need the ATP Electronics ToughDrive USB storage device.
The ToughDrive was intriguing to me because this device was promoted as being able to withstand the daily abuse and more. The ToughDrive is a USB based storage device that is protected by a hard rubber shell. The advantage of using this device over other storage options is that it is fast, compatible and easily portable.
To see how tough this drive really is, I left the device in the pocket of a pair of pants. I then washed the pants to see if it could survive the full wash cycle. After 20 minutes, I took the pants out and dried the ToughDrive off with a towel. After ensuring it was completely dry, I plugged the ToughDrive into my computer's USB port and it surprisingly appeared on the desktop as an external storage device. I'm not suggesting that you try this yourself or perform any other destructive acts with the device. I did it so you wouldn't have to.
The ToughDrive also offers you the option of partitioning the drive as well as setting up password protection.
The ATP Electronics ToughDrive comes in five different storage capacities (256MB, 512MB, 1GB, 2GB, 4GB) and offers throughput of 30 MB/s read and 20MB/s data transfer speeds. The ToughDrive is compatible with Windows 2000 / ME / XP, MacOS X, Mac OS 8.6, Linux Kernel 2.4.0 or above. For Windows 98 and 98SE systems, you will need to install a device driver.
I found that the ATP Electronics’ ToughDrive portable USB storage device is an extremely durable product that you will be able to depend on when you need it the most. Stop spending time looking for blank CD-Rs and pick up the ATP ToughDrive. The ToughDrive earns 4.5 stars out of 5. Highly recommended.
