The venue is designed for children ages 8-12, although children up to age 14 are welcome to experience the M-Lab. It simulates a high-tech innovation laboratory, in which each child plays the role of an "M-Ventor(TM)", part of an elite group of young inventors tasked with solving difficult problems using an interactive video game while working as a team. The high-tech venue was created for Motorola by Gensler, a strategic design firm with expertise in creating branded experiences through the built environment. The software for the video game portion of the experience was developed by ImaginEngine, the leader in developing educational and entertaining software for kids and a division of Foundation 9 Entertainment. Construction and fabrication of the venue is being managed by MC(2), which specializes in the design, production and management of integrated marketing programs and exhibits. Motorola plans to open the venue in the fall of 2006.
