 Gateway Profile 6 integrates all the components of a traditional
desktop, including a LCD monitor and stereo quality speakers in a
single unit.
Gateway, the nation's third-largest PC vendor, today announced its sixth generation all-in-one desktop PC that provides a substantial cost-savings thanks to a design that is highly serviceable, as well as easy to manage and deploy. Optimized for education, government and business customers, the Gateway Profile(R) 6 integrates all the components of a traditional desktop, including a LCD monitor and stereo quality speakers in a single unit.
Gateway's new all-in-one PC provides the latest performance technology and most-sought after desktop PC features in a single unit. Based on Intel's 945G chipset and configurable with a 17-inch or 19-inch detachable LCD display for easy serviceability, Gateway Profile 6 offers processing power up to Intel(R) Pentium(R) D dual core and 2GB DDR2 memory. With a wide choice of desktop optical drives, SATA II-300 hard drives, IEEE 1394 ports as well as optional integrated 802.11b/g wireless, this all-in-one is as welcome on an executive's desk as it is in a call center, kiosk or computer lab.
The Gateway Profile 6 comes standard with gigabit LAN for traditional access to the network. For organizations interested in wireless networking, it features an optional integrated 802.11b/g wireless solution that simplifies deployment and eliminates cumbersome external antennas.
Affordability Throughout Its Lifecycle
The Gateway Profile 6 offers cost efficiencies throughout its lifecycle -- from initial acquisition through retirement. With a cost about the same as a traditional desktop PC plus LCD monitor, Gateway's all-in-one design means single-step system deployment using an integrated handle, fewer cables to connect and less packaging. IT staff are able to save time and be more productive by having only one unit to track and support. Additionally, due to the integrated design, when it's time to retire the unit, disposal costs are about half that of the traditional desktop/LCD combination.
Efficient Design Provides Ergonomic Advantages
The Gateway Profile 6 maximizes workspace, reduces cumbersome and unsightly cables and offers a polished, clutter-free look, making it perfect for space-constrained areas or public spaces where aesthetics are important. Additionally, its highly ergonomic design offers a height/tilt adjustable LCD, integrated stereo speakers, and front access to the optical and floppy/media reader drives, power button, audio jacks, and USB ports. Hardware-based monitor adjustment and volume controls further add to its ease of use.
To protect users while on the Internet or Intranet, the Gateway Profile 6 comes with a 90-day complimentary subscription to Symantec Client Security for network and system security(2). Additionally, to protect the system from theft, the back panel can be secured with a Kensington-type locking mechanism, either key-based or combination cable lock systems.
Pricing and Availability
The Gateway Profile 6 will be available in April 2006 and has a starting price of $1,199 including the 17" LCD monitor. This new all-in-one PC offers several configurations, including one optimized for small businesses. Sample base configurations are as follows:
