      Fujitsu introduced ScanSnap scanning solution for Macintosh users, the
S500M, with 20 percent faster scanning speeds, improved automatic paper
size detection and a new design that complements Mac computers.
Additionally, Fujitsu is offering customers the ability to incorporate optical character recognition (OCR) and business card reader functionality into their ScanSnap S500M applications with a mail-in rebate to receive free copies of Readiris Pro v11(full) software and Cardiris 3.5(full) software from I.R.I.S. Group (total value of $248.00 USD). The Fujitsu ScanSnap S500M, supporting Mac OS X v10.4 Tiger and Intel or PowerPC based computers, not only comes in a sleek, new design complementary to Mac computers, but is also equipped with improved scanning efficiency, producing scanning speeds of up to 18 pages per minute (ppm) for single-sided documents and 36 images per minute (ipm) for double-sided documents. Additionally, new and improved auto-document size detection allows users to automatically scan batches of mixed size documents, reducing operational requirements and improving ease of use. Simply drop any mixed sized document batches -- such as receipts or brochures -- into the 50-page automatic document feeder (ADF) and let the Fujitsu ScanSnap scanner's document size detection functionality do the work. Furthermore, for the first time, Fujitsu is offering customers a mail-in rebate to obtain free document management software from the I.R.I.S.
